How much can I borrow?
This is a very common question and obviously an important one when you are looking to buy a new home.
If you have an existing home to sell then you are already in a good position with a track record with your existing mortgage or borrowings, but the answer is not as easy as it may seem as you need to take into account regular outgoings such as other loans or car finance that have been taken on after your first mortgage was arranged, and also the type of work that you do if you have changed jobs, and how you are paid for example bonuses may not always be included.
As a general guide, you can use a value of 4 times your salary, but if you give us your basic details we can give you a realistic figure of how much you can borrow.
